new Christmas CD [Dec. 18th, 2007|10:16 am]
fans of Ashton Allen

Hello everyone! Ashton wanted me to let all of you know that he (and his friend/bandmate Devin Moore) have a new Christmas CD for sale called "It's a Rock Salt Christmas". It's 20 songs--half covers of classic Christmas tunes and half brand spanking new stuff. Just stop on by his MySpace page to check out some samples and find out more about how to order it.

Spread the word and... happy holidays!

My Ashton Experience [Sep. 24th, 2006|07:55 pm]
fans of Ashton Allen

[mood |sleepysleepy]

Just in case any of you didn't read this when I posted it as
a comment in another post....

My first introduction to Ashton, was when he opened for Duncan Sheik
at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Here's a bit about that night...

The show started before 9:00pm. As always, Duncan had an amazing opening act. The opening act for this show was Ashton Allen.
When he came out, I turned to my friend and said, "Ooh! He's a handsome guy!" It was just him, no band. He performed a couple songs with a guitar...and one with a guitar and harmonica!

The rest of the set he performed on this awesome piano keyboard.
I'm a total sucker for guys who can play the piano, so that totally upped his 'hottt' factor for me! On his song, 'Center of the Universe' he worked Duncan Sheik into the song and the crowd went wild!
("When the center of the universe, is with Duncan Sheik tonight!")
He played for about 30 minutes, but I wouldn't have minded more.

I had originally planned on using the cash I had on me to buy a Duncan
t-shirt, but I really enjoyed Ashton's music, so I decided I'd get his CD instead.

As I went to the counter to make my purchase, I realized that Ashton was standing right by me! His back was to me, so I didn't want to freak him out, so I just whispered, "Ashton."

My idea didn't work after all because he jumped a little. He said,
"I thought it was my conscience!" I laughed and started whispering his name again. I told him that I was buying his CD and asked if he would
sign it for me. I started taking the plastic wrap off to open the CD
when Ashton grabbed it and showed me his special trick to open CDs.
Very clever! He pulled out the CD booklet and asked me what I wanted him to say. My mind went completely blank!

I looked over to my friend and said, "Maggie? What should I have him say?" Then Ashton laughed, because he thought I was telling him what I wanted on it and he had already wrote "M". "It was meant for me!" Maggie said. Ashton asked me my name and when I told him it was Tammy, he said, "Perfect!" He worked the "M" into my name and signed the CD and handed it back to me. ::see my userpic::

I told him that I took my first flight to get here. "Your first flight...ever?!" he asked. "Yep!" I answered. He asked me how it was.
I told him it wasn't bad, I survived. He told me, "It opens up a whole new world now." I told him how I've seen Duncan about half a dozen times now and that he was the first opening act that I had bought a CD of. He was quite flattered by that, until I added, with a wink,
"Of course, that's because I had cash on me tonight!"

We chatted a bit more. Apparently, Ashton caught us outside before the show doing a little dance my friends made up. I was hoping it was one of the times I didn't participate. I was getting ready to say goodbye, because my friend is giving me a look, but the next thing I know, Duncan is back and talking to Ashton. The only way for me to get by would be to get in their way, so I just stayed put. Ashton gave Duncan a copy of his CD and someone took a picture of them together.
(Which I would LOVE to get my hands on!) The next thing I know, Ashton is mentioning me to Duncan! Ashton tells Duncan,
"Tammy, here has seen you half a dozen times now and I'm the first opening act she's bought a CD of!"
"That's because I had cash on me tonight." I said with a grin, and then added, "Duncan always has great opening acts!" They both smiled.

I said my last goodbyes to the both of them and made my way out...
then started kicking myself because I had COMPLETELY neglected
to get a photo together with Ashton!!! :P

gville and ocala shows [Sep. 4th, 2006|01:56 am]

newscane's post reminded me that I hadn't posted about seeing Ash a couple weeks ago. christinawow and I saw him here in Gville and also in Ocala a few days later (with a new bass player).

Full-band sounds really good--better than I expected, actually. Dave (I think that's his name; the first bass player who could only do a few shows of the tour) had vocals that meshed very nicely with Ash's. And Devin (the new bass player) is fun and does a mean bass solo. I think they played more songs than he could solo, and they added in loops of the strings parts of some songs, which was cool. There were also many Snakes on a Plane references, which always makes an event more fun!

goofy pix from Ocala!Collapse )

Has anyone else seen him or is anyone else planning on seeing him this tour? If so, please post!
